The old town core of Kamnik immediately attracts the visitors with its narrow streets, baroque house façades and medieval historical features. Mali grad and its best preserved remains - Malograjska kapela - tower over the town streets. In a document dated from 1143, Kamnik is mentioned and counts of Andechs as owners of the land. Their influence on the development (for a time, Kamnik was the capital of Carniola) and the architectural appearance of the town has left a lasting mark.
